Fury Road Minute 90 - They're going back

Immortan Joe sits quietly contemplating when suddenly a polecat spots the War Rig speeding across the wasteland. Rictus and the People Eater wonder what Furiosa is doing, but Joe quickly realizes that she’s heading back to the Citadel because it’s undefended. Joe calls his War Boys and the pursuit begins again.

Fury Road Minute 89 - It'll be a hard day

Capable suggests that they use Nux as a cover to get them into the Citadel, and he agrees, saying that it feels like hope. The Keeper of the Seeds points out that this could be there chance to start anew. Max admits that the going will be hard, but the rewards will be worth it. He holds out his hand, Furiosa considers the plan one last time, then takes it.

Fury Road Minute 88 - The same way we came

Toast and The Dag tell the Vuvalini all about the Citadel, Immortan Joe, and His iron grip on the region. The Valkyrie is hesitant to go with Max’s plan citing the time it will take to go around the mountains, but Max suggests a more direct approach. They will cut straight through the middle of the war parties and seal the canyon behind them.

Fury Road Minute 87 - This is your way home

Max gets on his motorcycle and rides after Furiosa, quickly catching up to her. Once stopped, Max presents Furiosa with the map he’s drawn and explains that they shouldn’t be running away. Instead, they should return to the one place with a reliable source of clean water and fertile soil. Furiosa and The Wives quickly realize that he means the Citadel.

Fury Road Minute 86 - You promised to help us

Max refuses Furiosa’s offer to join her and the others in their trek across the salt. The next morning, Max is standing on the edge of the plains of silence watching the others leave when he hears a voice. It’s the child, Glory, who appears and gives him a concerning premonition of the future. Max stares out into the distance where the ghostly shape of a child appears.

Fury Road Minute 85 - More than welcome

Max is working on his hand-drawn map when Furiosa approaches and asks to speak with him privately. Max obliges her and Furiosa explains how she’s spoken with the others and they are planning on taking supplies from the War Rig and heading out across the plains of silence. Furiosa tells Max that one of the motorcycles is for him and he is welcome to come with them.

Fury Road Minute 81 - Where did you find such creatures?

Though some in the Vuvalini are cautious about Furiosa’s traveling companions, the two groups quickly merge as introductions are made. This pleases Furiosa and she expresses her eagerness to reach The Green Place so The Wives can see it. Her happiness is quickly dashed as the Vuvalini tell Furiosa that The Green Place is no more.

The Vuvalini gather around Furiosa as The Valkyrie arrives after descending from the tower. The two embrace as they recognize each other after being separated for many years. The other Vuvalini begin to question Furiosa, wanting to learn more about her time away from them. Seeing that there is no danger, The Wives leave the War Rig.

Fury Road Minute 79 - Clan Swaddle Dog

Furiosa holds out her hands to show she is unarmed and announces to any unseen eyes that she is one of the Vuvalini, of Clan Swaddle Dog. At this proclamation, the woman on the tower signals the others and women on motorcycles appear from every direction. Max, Nux and the wives sit in the War Rig as the motorcycles surround Furiosa.

Fury Road Minute 78 - That's bait

Furiosa scans the horizon, looking for landmarks, when Toast notices a tower in the distance with mirrors hanging from it to catch the light. Furiosa decides they should approach the tower, but as they get closer to it, Max expresses his distrust of the situation. Furiosa tells everyone to stay in the Rig and departs to talk with a woman seemingly trapped on the tower.

Fury Road Minute 77 - Entomophagy

Max turns his attention to the wives dozing in the back seat of the Rig and asks about their intentions. Furiosa answers that they are simply looking for hope, while she is looking for redemption. Nux, awake in the back seat, finds a bug crawling on Capable and promptly eats it. Sometime later, the War Rig stops so Furiosa can regain her bearings.

Fury Road Minute 76 - The best shot they’ll ever have

With Immortan Joe’s War Parties bogged down and the Bullet Farmer dead, the War Rig travels unmolested through rolling dunes. Max sleeps until he is wrenched awake by his nightmares. Furiosa calms him down and He takes advantage of this quiet moment to once more ask Furiosa about their destination.

Fury Road Minute 75 - The creepy place with all the crows

Like a post-apocalyptic Father Christmas, Max opens his bag of loot and gives Nux a new steering wheel for the War Rig as well as a boot to replace the one that was taken after the sandstorm. Max washes his face and the War Rig gets moving again, passing through more swampland, this time inhabited by shadowy figures atop stilts.

Fury Road Minute 74 - That’s not his blood

The War Rig puts some distance between it and the Peacemaker before stopping to cool off the engines. Nux and the Wives douse the engine in mother’s milk as Furiosa keeps an eye out for trouble. Through the fog, Furiosa sees explosions in the distance. Soon afterward, Max returns dragging a sack of loot taken from the Bullet Farmer.

Fury Road Minute 73 - Retaliate first

The War Rig has escaped the soft ground, but the Bullet Farmer still poses a danger to the wives. Max grabs some supplies and tells Furiosa to move the War Rig further down the road. She asks what they should do if He does not return. Max shrugs and tells Her to keep moving without him, and Max disappears into the night.

With The Bullet Farmer nearly on top of them, Furiosa, Max, and Nux struggle against the mud to free the War Rig. As the Wives retreat to higher ground the tree begins to lean under the strain. With Nux behind the wheel, the War Rig pulls itself out of the mud and finally gains the higher, and drier, ground.Max climbs up to the driver’s window to find Nux overjoyed.

Fury Road Minute 71 - Conductor of the choir of death!

Max and Nux work together to secure the winch line around the tree on the hill, putting the chain that one connected them to good use. Meanwhile, the Bullet Farmer is moving once again, despite having been blinded. His reckless spray of gunfire sends Furiosa and the wives running for cover as they abandon retrieving the engine plates.

Furiosa holds Nux at gunpoint, despite Capable’s protests, as Max takes the long rifle and aims at the spotlight in the distance. His aim proves unreliable so Furiosa relieves him of the responsibility and stops the Bullet Farmer in his tracks, blinding him in the process. Nux leaps from the War Rig to attach a winch line to a nearby tree.

Fury Road Minute 69 - He means the tree

Max and the wives push engine panels under the tanker’s wheels to help it escape the mud, but despite Furiosa’s efforts, the War Rig only sinks deeper. Furiosa descends from the War Rig with her long rifle to scope out the approaching War Lord, but the sudden movement of the War Rig and the discovery that Max isn’t driving reveals Nux’s presence and desire to help.

Fury Road Minute 68 - Perfect in every way

The Bullet Farmer takes off in pursuit of the War Rig leaving Immortan Joe to watch as the Organic Mechanic performs a postmortem cesarean delivery of Angharad’s child, but it’s no use and the child is dead. Elsewhere, the War Rig has once again found itself sunk into the mud leaving Max and the wives scrambling to help it escape.
